What advice do you have for prospective SABG job candidates? It’s almost always okay to say “I don’t know” when queried but this should be immediately followed up with “…but I’ll find out and get right back with the answer.”
Before working at SABG, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had? Aircraft commander on strategic airlift missions around the work, doing in-flight refueling, etc.
What is the best book you’ve read? “Exodus,” by Leon Uris. Great historical background and character development.
If you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time? Travel, both stateside and internationally (RV, boats, ships, trains, planes).
What is your favorite sports team? Dallas Cowboys, always!!
What could you give a 40-minute presentation on with absolutely no preparation? Officiating a national championship-level swimming competition; traveling through Europe.
What’s something most people don’t know about you? I lived with my family for two years in the Leopoldville (Kinshasha), Republic of the Congo (Zaire) while my father flew President Mobutu around the country.

What do you like most about your job? I love working with my amazing team. I could truthfully say after only a few months I do not consider them just coworkers, but also great friends.
What advice do you have for prospective SABG job candidates? This is by far the most rewarding job. Actually learning about our mission and seeing what we do as a team coming to life is very rewarding.
Before working at SABG, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had? I was a manager for an Inflatable Entertainment and Catering Company.
What is your favorite TV show or movie? My all time favorite TV series are Vampire Diaries and the Originals.
If you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time? Hang out with my family and friends.

Name: Juan Carrasquilla
Job title: Intermediate Facility Analyst
What do you like most about your job? The people are very friendly and collaborative! This creates a friendly and conducive environment where the goal is teamwork, not competing against your peers.
What advice do you have for prospective SABG job candidates? If this is your first DoD or DHS job, don’t get overwhelmed by all of the acronyms, terms, and jargon! There is a lot to learn about the way different government entities operate, but you will catch on more quickly than you think!
Before working at SABG, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had? I’ve worked on starting my own athletic apparel brand, and even launched a Kickstarter in early 2019. I was able to raise $10,000 in funding and sold over 300 items! Starting your own business is definitely daunting but rewarding.
What is your favorite TV show or movie? I’m currently watching the Dark Tourist series on Netflix. It’s a very captivating travel series by a New Zealander journalist who takes part in “dark tourism” – the trend of visiting unusual or taboo travel destinations.
If you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time? Watch movies while exercising.

What do you like most about your job? Working with a great team, both at SABG and my Government Customer.
What advice do you have for prospective SABG job candidates? Talk about what you are passionate about. You can tell a lot about a person when they talk about what their passions are.
Before working at SABG, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had? I worked as a Biometrics Enroller in Iraq. It was pretty neat as it was something completely different from any position I had ever held and it challenged me in a great way by pushing me out of my comfort zone.
What are your favorite books? Little Women by Louisa May Alcott and Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte.
If you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time? Probably watch more TV and spend time with my family (including my fur children).
What could you give a 40-minute presentation on with no preparation? Fostering to adopt, the process, kids in foster care and how the system works. My husband and I are currently trying to adopt children.
What’s something most people don’t know about you? My goal if I ever win the big mega millions or Powerball is to set up a no kill dog rescue as well as a farm animal sanctuary. Also, I want to set up a fund to help foster kids go to college or a trade school as well as set up a facility to house them so they do not have to worry about housing while they are attending school. If a foster kid isn’t adopted before they turn 18 yrs old, many end up on the street. I want to stop that cycle and help them pursue their dreams.

What do you like most about your job? I really enjoy getting the opportunity to support the U.S. Space Force and work with an amazing SABG team.
What advice do you have for prospective SABG job candidates? I’d say to not be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone. There are many great opportunities at SABG, so try to apply your skillset to all of them.
Before working at SABG, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had? I was fortunate to have the opportunity to serve as the Space Weapons and Tactics Officer for the 35th Fighter Wing at Misawa Air Base, Japan. I was charged with integrating Space Tactics into Fighter Tactics, which meant I got to spend most of my days flying in the backseat of an F-16 for two years.
What fictional place would you like to visit? The USS Enterprise…preferably not in a red shirt…IYKYK.
If you could meet any historical figure, who would they be and why? I’d love to meet Brig. Gen. Benjamin O. Davis, Sr. General Davis was the first African American general in the U.S. Army and, as one can imagine, he faced many roadblocks and much adversity during his career. I admire his resilience and dedication to service. I am the first American in my family and wanted to serve in the military in part due to his example.
If you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time? I’d be hitting the gym and working on my golf swing.
Who is your hero and why? My kids are my heroes. They survived eight military moves before high school and all the things that come with being the “new kid” every year. They are some of the strongest people I know and they have the best hearts. They are truly incredible people.
What is your favorite sports team? I have two…the Houston ASTROS and the Houston TEXANS!
What could you give a 40-minute presentation on with no preparation? U.S. Air Force Nuclear Intercontinental Ballistic Missile Operations
What’s something most people don’t know about you? I absolutely love to cook, grill, and use my smoker!
